I fear that the moment I see these traitors as less than human, is when I loose myself entirely.

Synopsis

They tell me the country looked different back then.

They talk of open borders and flowing rivers.

They say the world was green.

But drought swept across the globe and the United States of the past disappeared under a burning sky.

Enora Byrnes lives in the aftermath, a barren world where water has become the global currency. In a life dominated by duty to family and community, Enora is offered a role within an entity that controls everything from water credits to borders. But it becomes clear that not all is as it seems. From the wasted confines of her small town to the bowels of a hidden city, Enora will uncover buried secrets that hide an unthinkable reality.

Review

This is my first actual indie read and you know what? I liked it. A dystopian tale of how the world was green and now they are paying the price. Water is crucial and of course is everything. They use water as currency. Crazy right? As how the story begins to unravel, I feel that the author did a pretty good job with the story line.

Enora, our protagonist, is a normal person you can really imagine to do the job right. I mean she’s a typical girl who questions her role and what the company, DMC, does. She mainly is someone who doesn’t want to lose herself when being recruited from the company.

Like all dystopian stories, they show you of what could be. I like that because it can make you understand the importance of some things that have to be dealt with. This was a fast pace book and it felt like a light read for me. I give this book 3 stars. Anyone who is interested in a dystopian novel, you should give this novel a chance.
